Connellsville

Writing workshops offered to Junior High East students

The second annual Night of Writing Dangerously will take place at Connellsville Junior High East from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday with registration beginning at 5:30 p.m.

This event allows students an opportunity to choose two interactive writing workshops out of four possible options. Junior High East teachers Gail Cuneo, Amanda Gorecki, Ben Haines and Melissa Monyok have volunteered to lead sessions relating to script, poetry, creative, and sensory forms of writing. While students are moving between sessions, they are encouraged to participate in any or all of the 10 additional writing activities planned for the night. From Poker Poetry and Word Crossfire to Story Starters and Chalk Talk, students will be able to test their skills and have fun with writing at the same time. Students are encouraged to finish at least one writing piece at the conclusion of the event, and plans are being made to bring all of the writers back for a coffeehouse presentation night in the library at a later date.
