No increase in East Huntingdon Township property taxes

East Huntingdon Township property owners will not see an increase in local taxes in 2010.

Supervisors Thursday passed the final 2010 budget reflecting $5 million in both revenues and expenditures. The millage rate will remain at 2.25 mills for general purposes and 25 mills for debt purposes.

Township secretary Cindy Walthour said that while reality transfer taxes are down, revenues from the Greenridge Reclamation Landfill balance the budget out.

But she added even that revenue from the landfill is down at a budgeted $200,000 in revenue.

"We're down about $20,000 a quarter because the landfill doesn't allow any construction material anymore," she said.

Other than road paving or tarring and chipping projects, no major projects are in next year's budget.

Supervisors yesterday also approved a three-year animal control contract with Moran's Midnight Kennels out of Sutersville.

Supervisors approved the renewal of a junkyard license for Zelmore Brothers Auto Wreckers along Route 31 in Tarrs and Henderson Auto along Mt. Pleasant Road, just outside of Scottdale.

A construction permit was approved for Farley Kalp to put a mobile home along Route 31.
