Butler Symphony features Joe Negri
The Butler County Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Elisabeth Heath-Charles, will feature Joe Negri at 8 p.m. Saturday in the auditorium of the Butler Intermediate High School, 551 Fairground Hill Road.
The theme for this season is "The Symphony Spotlights ..." and this concert is Spotlight on the Joe Negri Trio.
One of the most recognized names in the Pittsburgh music circles, Negri was a musical prodigy at the age of 4 and was touring nationally at the age of 16. He has performed with such diverse performers as Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett, Andy Williams, Michael Feinstein, Yo Yo Ma and Wynford, Branford and Ellis Marsalis. His frequent appearances as Handyman Negri on the PBS Mister Rogers Neighborhood show have provided him with nationwide TV exposure.
Negri, along with Brian Stahurski on bass and Tom Wendt on drums, will perform "Welcome Song -- On A Wonderful Day Like Today," a Gershwin medley, "Chicken ala Swing," "You Are Special," and "Flight of the Bumblebee." The orchestra will open the concert with Franck's "Symphony in d minor" and will also pay Dvorak's "Carnival Overture."

Comedy Night tickets for sale
A Comedy Night featuring Billy Elmer and guest is planned for March 1 at the Leechburg Elks lodge, Market Street. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. The comedy show will start at 9. DJ Stan Zydonik Jr. will provide musical entertainment before and after the comedy show. Food will be available from the kitchen and the bar will be open for business. KSHS presents 'Grease' in April
The Kittanning Senior High School will present the musical "Grease" at 7 p.m. April 3, 4, and 5. Tickets are on sale 5-7 p.m. today and on Feb. 21, and 28 in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center. Access is from the school parking lot off of Johnston Avenue. All tickets are reserved seating at a cost of $8 each. ASD Gold Cards will be honored for a cost of $5. 'All Shook Up' at Karns City
Karns City High School presents "All Shook Up" inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 and 29 and March 1 and 2 p.m. March 1 in the high school auditorium. Bluebird program at Jennings Center
Harry Schmeider, the "Ambassador for the Bluebirds," will be at Jennings Environmental Education Center at 2 p.m. Feb. 24 to show how people can make a difference in their backyard by helping bluebirds.
Schmeider will demonstrate proper nest box construction, placement of the box and monitoring techniques while offering information about the bluebirds' plight and the importance of getting involved. Attendees can learn about the bluebirds' preferred habitat and food, and the challenges they must face in the form of predators and non-native species. After the program, join the Bluebird Society of Pennsylvania and receive a free nest box.
The center is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset for hiking and other environmentally related activities.

Cash bash in Kittanning Township
The Kittanning Township Fire Department and the PA Red Knights Motorcycle Club Chapter 16 will hold its first cash bash Feb. 23 at the Kittanning Township fire hall. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for 21 and older. There will be Chinese auction, bingo, fundraiser drawings, and additional games. Donation is $10. For tickets and information, call 724-548-7290. Ticket must be presented at the door for admission.

The Manor Township Lions Club will hold a craft show 8 a.m.-2 p.m. March 1 at Manor Square, 228 Main St., Ford City. The cost to rent tables is $15 each.
