The New American Music Union is taking place in Pittsburgh's SouthSide Works area. There are three available parking garages located off 28th Street between Carson Street and Tunnel Boulevard. Handicap parking is available in each of these three lots. Cost to park will be $5 per vehicle. Tailgating will not be allowed in any lot.
Parking in this area will be at a premium. We strongly recommend the following options to enhance your transportation experience:
• Sharing Rides
• Taking advantage of our FREE satellite parking and FREE shuttle option
• Taking public transportation
• Riding a bike
Warning: Anyone parking in unauthorized areas around the South Side and in nearby private property may be towed at the owner's expense.
Share a Ride Come with a friend. Come with groups of friends. You will all save gas money, parking fees and will help to reduce car emissions.
FREE Satellite Parking & Shuttle
Our designated satellite parking lots are located at Mellon Arena off Centre Avenue. FREE parking and shuttle service to all festival patrons. The shuttle drops you off just a short walk from the festival site and will pick you up again after the festival at the same location.
Public Transportation
Riding a bus to and from the festival is another great option. Here are a few bus routes that will bring you from neighboring communities to the SouthSide Works area:
• From Oakland or the Waterfront area, take the 59U
• From Downtown or the Station Square area, take the 51A
• Other PAT bus routes that make stops near the festival area include the 51C, 51G, and 51B.

Bicycle
We have teamed up with Bike Pittsburgh to offer a free bike valet service on the festival grounds, which are conveniently located off the South Side Bike Trail running along the Monongahela River. It is also close to the Eliza Furnace Trail on the north side of the Monongahela River. Directions to the SouthSide Works Area
The SouthSide Works is located between 26th Street and Hot Metal Street. Convenient and abundant parking is available near 28th Street between Carson Street and Tunnel Boulevard.
From East: I-376 Follow I-376 W toward Pittsburgh. Take EXIT 3A toward GLENWOOD. Turn slight right onto Bates St/PA 885. Turn Left onto PA-885/2nd AVENUE. Follow to Hot Metal Street or designated parking areas nearby.
From North: Rt. 28 Follow PA-28 S toward PITTSBURGH. Merge onto I-579 S toward LIBERTY BRIDGE. Take the exit toward I-376 E/OAKLAND/MONROEVILLE. Stay STRAIGHT to go onto BOULEVARD OF THE ALLIES. Turn RIGHT onto BATES ST/PA-885. Turn LEFT onto 2ND AVE/PA-885. Follow to Hot Metal Street or designated parking areas nearby.
From North: I-79 Follow I-79 S and merge onto I-279 S toward Pittsburgh. Merge onto I-579 S via exit number 8A towards VETERANS BRIDGE. Take the 7th Avenue/6th Avenue exit. Take the ramp toward MELLON ARENA. Turn left onto BIGELOW BLVD. Turn right onto WASHINGTON PL. and WASHINGTON PL. becomes CHATHAM SQ. Turn left onto FORBES AVENUE. Merge onto the BIRMINGHAM BRIDGE toward South Side. Turn left onto E. Carson Street. Follow to Hot Metal Street or designated parking areas nearby.
From North: Rt. 65 Follow PA-65 S toward PITTSBURGH. Cross Ft. Duquesne Bridge toward downtown following signs for I-376E. Stay in left lanes for Downtown exits. Take 3rd exit left at Smithfield Street. Continue straight through the light to Grant Street. Continue straight through the light, veering left onto Grant Street. Make a right onto FOURTH AVENUE. Make a left onto ROSS STREET. Make a right onto 2ND AVENUE. Follow 2ND AVENUE along the river to Hot Metal Street or designated parking areas nearby.
From West: I-376/US-22/US-30 Follow I-376 E/US-22 E/US-30 E toward Pittsburgh. EXIT 6A toward MONROEVILLE. Take the GRANT ST exit, EXIT 1C, on the LEFT. Stay STRAIGHT to go onto GRANT ST. Turn RIGHT onto 1ST AVE. Turn LEFT onto ROSS ST. Turn RIGHT onto 2ND AVE. Follow to Hot Metal Street or designated parking areas nearby.
From South I-79: Follow I-79 N and follow signs to I-279 N toward Pittsburgh. Continue through the tunnels and follow signs to Monroeville and take the 1C GRANT ST. exit on the left. Continue straight through the light and make a right onto FORBES AVENUE. Follow for 1.2 miles and merge right onto BIRMINGHAM BRIDGE toward SOUTH SIDE. Turn left onto CARSON STREET. Follow to Hot Metal Street or designated parking areas nearby. Alternate Route -- Continue through the tunnels and follow signs to Monroeville and take the 1C GRANT ST. exit on the left. Continue straight through the light. Make a right onto FOURTH AVENUE. Make a left onto ROSS STREET. Make a right onto 2ND AVENUE. Follow 2ND AVENUE along the river to Hot Metal Street or designated parking areas nearby.
From Homestead/East Carson Street: Follow Eighth Avenue to Carson St. exit. Follow East Carson Street. Access property by either making a right onto HOT METAL STREET and a left onto SYDNEY STREET or making a right onto 28th through 26th STREET.
Directions to Mellon Arena Parking
Mellon Arena is located on the eastern edge of downtown Pittsburgh off Centre Avenue. Entrances to both the East and Upper Lots are off Centre Avenue
From the NORTH: Take 79S to 279S to 579S, follow signs to Mellon Arena (Veterans/Liberty Bridge), take 6th Avenue/Mellon Arena exit, turn left at light to Mellon Arena.
From the EAST: Take 22W to 376W (Monroeville), through Squirrel Hill Tunnel, take Grant Street exit to 7th Avenue, turn right to Mellon Arena.
From the WEST: Take Route 22E to Parkway (279E), through Ft. Pitt Tunnel, bear right (towards Monroeville) and take first exit on left (Grant Street) to 7th Avenue, turn right to Mellon Arena.
From the SOUTH: Take 79N to Parkway (279E toward Pittsburgh, through Ft. Pitt Tunnel, bear right (towards Monroeville) and take first exit on left (Grant Street) to 7th Avenue, turn right to Mellon Arena.
From the AIRPORT: Take Rt. 60 to Rt 22/30E to Parkway (279E), through Ft. Pitt Tunnel, bear right (towards Monroeville) and take first exit on left (Grant Street) to 7th Avenue, turn right to Mellon Arena. Call 412-472-3525 for airport information.
