Tickets go on sale Friday for comedian Lisa Lampanelli. Comedy's "Queen of Mean" performs Jan. 10 at the Byham Theater, Downtown.

Lampanelli's act is not for the faint-hearted. A classic "funny broad" in the words of Howard Stern, she says things that would get most people tarred and feathered. She's been described as "a cross between Don Rickles, Archie Bunker and a vial of estrogen." She got her big break in 2002 when she was the only female comic invited to insult Chevy Chase at the N.Y. Friars Club Roast on Comedy Central. Her hit 2005 one-hour special on the network was titled "Take It Like a Man."

Tickets are $39.50 and go on sale at 9 a.m. at LiveNation.com. A limited number of four "laugh pack" tickets will be available for $119. Tickets also are available at Theater Square box office and can be charged by phone.

'The Road' pushed back to 2009 opening

If you were hoping for a heart-warming tale about the end of the world just in time for Thanksgiving, you're not going to get it this year.

"The Road," a post-apocalyptic horror movie based on Cormac McCarthy's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, has been pushed back to an unspecified 2009 opening. The film, starring Viggo Mortensen, was shot earlier this year in several Western Pennsylvania locations, including Erie, Braddock and Conneaut Lake Park, in addition to locations in New Orleans and Mt. St. Helens in Washington.

A representative from the Weinstein Company said that the special effects weren't ready yet.
