The play is Ryan's adaptation of Maura Conlon-McIvor's non-fiction book of the same title. Set in the 1960s, it follows Conlon-McIvor's struggle to find her place in the world and to unravel the mysteries surrounding her elusive father who worked as an FBI agent. Paperback readers may recognize the book by its alternate title "She's All Eyes."
"FBI Girl: How I Learned to Crack My Father's Code" begins performances Wednesday and continues through June 10 with performances at 8 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Admission: $18-$22.

Take a look at the city in the early-morning quiet. Kayak Pittsburgh, the paddling purveyors of Venture Outdoors, is having hour-long trips Wednesday mornings. The 6:15 a.m. get-togethers start at its site at the northern end of the Roberto Clemente Bridge. The trip is not recommended for beginners, because it does not include beginners' instruction in order to maximize time on the river.Fees are $12; $20 for nonmembers.

The annual Pittsburgh Folk Festival will return to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Downtown. The Memorial Day weekend celebration of more than 25 nationalities will take place 4-10 p.m. Friday, noon-10 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. May 27. The festival includes traditional ethnic entertainment, food, shopping and cultural exhibits from foreign countries. Advance tickets -- $8 for age 13 and older; $4 for ages 4-12 -- must be purchased online by Wednesday. Tickets at the door cost $10 and $4.

The Pittsburgh Symphony Pops will be at its most spectacular under the expert baton of Erich Kunzel when it performs a tribute to American film composer John Williams on Wednesday night in New Castle. Music from "Jaws," "E.T., the Extra-Terrestrial," "Jurassic Park," "Superman" and the "Harry Potter" films will lead to a 10-movement suite from the six episodes of "Star Wars." Kunzel, who was a slyly humorous host at February performances of the program at Heinz Hall, is music director of the Cincinnati Pops. The performance starts at 8:05 p.m. at Scottish Rite Cathedral, New Castle. Admission is $21-$63.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" brings Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley together for the third installment of the adventures of pirate Capt. Jack Sparrow. We're especially looking forward to the appearance by Keith Richards as Sparrow's old man. The film officially opens Friday, but will show in a limited selection of theaters beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday.
