Former O'Hara manager Doug Arndt received about $70,000 and 12 months of paid medical coverage after being fired last year.

The settlement appears to stave off a potential lawsuit by Arndt, who was fired without public explanation in May after 13 years on the job.

Arndt's severance package includes an award of nine months' salary, about $70,300. The township will pay for his health insurance for one year or until he finds other employment.

"Every bill we've had, we've paid," Township Manager Julie Jakubec said.

The insurance coverage was retroactive to May. So far, the township has paid $1,124 per month toward his health coverage, officials said. If paid in total, it will cost the township about $13,488.

In exchange, Arndt agreed to release the township of any claim of wrongdoing in his termination. He had to agree not to discuss the settlement or disclose any information regarding his severance.
