Jamie Morton, who is aquatics director and varsity swim coach in the Moon Area School District, filed a federal age and sex discrimination lawsuit against the school district Tuesday.

The aquatics director contract for Morton, who was hired to fill the two positions in 1989, was not renewed in May 2007. His coaching contract was not renewed a month later. Athletes and their parents attended school board meetings last summer to protest the move and Moore was rehired in December.

Morton, who also filed charges against the district with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, is seeking lost wages between May and December, compensatory and punitive damages, and costs and attorneys fees.
