A father accused of punching the female principal and an assistant at his son's school will stand trial for assault, a district judge ruled this morning.
Taru Davis, 40, of Marshall-Shadeland attacked the two Morrow Elementary School officials Feb. 16 when they declined to let him remove his son from a classroom, police said.
Both women testified at a preliminary hearing this morning in Pittsburgh Municipal Court that Davis punched them in the face.
Principal Annette Piper said Davis punched her in the face, slammed her to the ground and continued beating on her until Betty Huguley intervened and he hit her.
"He snatched me up by my blouse and punched me, repeatedly punched me," Piper testified. "The first blow I received had so much force that it threw me to the ground."
"All I can say is that Mr. Davis is a good father," said defense attorney David Cercone. "He went there for the sole purpose of picking up his son. He had a medical excuse."
