Pittsburgh officials have given residents who have not been able to file their property taxes a three-week extension without penalty. City and school real estate taxes are now due by March 1.
"We know that it's been difficult for some folks who prefer to pay their taxes in person to get Downtown," Ravenstahl said in a written statement. "Right now all of our residents have other pressing matters to address due to the storm, and this extension will give them one less thing to worry about."
The deadline had been Thursday, but officials agreed to the extension because the snow emergency has suspended mail delivery and has made it difficult for residents to pay in person. City council is expected to approve the extension next week.
