Charges of aggravated assault have been withdrawn against a Highland Park woman accused of beating her 16-year-old daughter.
A preliminary hearing had been scheduled Wednesday for Lisa Annette Deis, 45, of Highland Park. She was arrested last week after daughter Rachael Deis told police her mother, who had been drinking and throwing things around their apartment, hit her in the face with a small piece of metal furniture.
Allegheny County First Assistant District Attorney Chris Connors said prosecutors dropped the charges because Rachael Deis didn't wish to cooperate.
Lisa Deis is the mother of Lauren Deis, 14, whose mutilated body was discovered July 13 wrapped in garbage bags outside Langley High School in Sheraden. She died from multiple stab wounds. Police have charged Tushon Brown, 35, of Sheraden, with the slaying.
