A failed candidate has filed an emergency petition with the state's Supreme Court seeking to stay election results from the May primary and November general election in Fayette County.
Robert "Ted" Pritchard Sr. filed the emergency petition on Friday. He wants the results stayed until after the court decides whether it will hear an appeal he filed earlier this year to a Commonwealth Court ruling.
In the self-filed appeal, Pritchard wants the Supreme Court to overturn the lower court's dismissal of his lawsuit alleging Fayette County failed to purge voter-registration lists. As a result of the failed purge, he has alleged that impersonators voted in place of deceased voters.
Pritchard, of Fairchance, ran unsuccessfully for constable and district judge in the spring primary.
The Supreme Court has taken no action on Pritchard's emergency petition.
Sheryl Heid, solicitor for the Election Bureau, said she does not intend to file a response to Pritchard's emergency motion because it "is not legally required, nor do we feel it's necessary to do a written response to Mr. Pritchard's allegations."
