Hype or hope?: The project manager for a long-anticipated $17 million Route 30 upgrade near the Route 981 intersection assures that thousands of daily motorists won't be inconvenienced by ongoing construction, which will run through July 2008. That's quite a claim, considering the volume of traffic. Considerable planning and cost have gone into preparations to assure the project does not become a business-killing bottleneck. Rest assured, we'll be watching the traffic flow closely to see if the public gets what's been promised.

That could mean purchasing a mobile trailer or paying rent for inmates shipped to other prisons. But there's also a festering feud between jail officials and the courts over who determines when inmates should be released. Let's stop the nonsense and focus on the problem at hand. How refreshing it would be just once to see county officials step up to a problem instead of pointing fingers.
