Former North Catholic basketball standout Rachel Frederick said she will transfer from Ohio to Duquesne to be closer to home.
Frederick, a 5-foot-11 guard, started every game last season as a sophomore for the Bobcats and averaged 13.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. She was named team MVP. Frederick will sit out this season will and have two years of eligibility remaining. She is the fourth recruit for first-year coach Suzie McConnell-Serio.
"I had a great experience at Ohio," Frederick said. "We were turning the program around, but some family situations have made me realize how important it is to be close to home. I actually looked at Duquesne (when I was in high school), but it just didn't work out then. I believe things happen for a reason, and with Suzie taking over, and my family situation, I just felt this was the best move for me," she said.
