Mt. Union
Senior running back Justin Wray (Kiski Area) and sophomore running back Scott Panchik (Highlands) saw playing time for Mt. Union, when it broke the NCAA record for points in a quarter in a 75-7 rout of Averett. Mt. Union scored 52 points in the first quarter. Panchik rushed eight times for 39 yards and had a 65-yard kickoff return, and Wray caught two passes for 57 yards.
Clarion
Freshman quarterback Gino Rometo (Plum) made his first start and completed 19 of 46 passes for 196 yards in a 38-10 loss to Tiffin, which is ranked No. 22 in Division II. Gino is the son of Plum coach Bill Rometo.

Edinboro
Senior defensive lineman Lucas Cox (Springdale) had four tackles, including two solo stops, in his debut at the Division II school, but Edinboro lost to West Chester, 32-16. Cox was one of the leaders of Springdale's 2003 WPIAL Class A championship team. He transferred from Divison I Iowa.
Westminster
Sophomore Mario Camerota (Springdale) made his first start at cornerback and broke up a pass deep in his team's territory on third down to help preserve a 13-6 win over Allegheny in Division III action.

Pitt
Junior forward E.J. McCormick (Fox Chapel) scored as Pitt tied UNLV, 1-1, in double overtime in the season opener. Also playing for Pitt are sophomore midfielder Mike McDade (Plum) and freshman goalkeeper Zack Matthews (Plum).
