A ramp connecting inbound Fifth Avenue to the Boulevard of the Allies is scheduled to open Tuesday in Oakland.
The ramp eliminates the connection now used by drivers heading toward Downtown from Oakland, and it will prompt the permanent closing of the single inbound lane of Forbes Avenue in that area that flows against the one-way outbound traffic.
The ramp is part of a $29 million project that includes replacing the Boulevard of the Allies bridge over Forbes Avenue. Work is scheduled to be completed in late 2008.
The boulevard bridge is scheduled to close on Jan. 3. A public meeting to discuss the work is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Dec. 12 at the University of Pittsburgh's Alumni Hall.
