A former Westmoreland County man who owns a hair-dye distribution business was found not guilty Tuesday by a federal jury on tax-evasion charges.

The government charged Anthony Vincent Miller, 36, formerly of Greensburg, with failing to pay $2.4 million over a three-year period.

The jury, which began deliberations Friday, acquitted him of failing to pay income taxes in 2000. The jury could not reach a decision on the years 2001 and '02.

Lawyers for Miller, who now lives in Melbourne, Fla., argued that a chronic obsessive-compulsive disorder made it nearly impossible for him to perform certain tasks in a timely manner, such as paying his bills.

Because of his condition, the lawyers argued, Miller relied on an accountant, who led him to believe he had a three-year extension to pay the taxes.
