A Hempfield man is in Westmoreland County Prison, charged with stabbing his father in the back earlier this week.

Steve Michael Japalucci, 28, of Grapeville was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment in a video arraignment before District Judge Roger Eckels of Norvelt.

In a criminal complaint filed with District Judge Joseph DeMarchis of Jeannette, Trooper Nicholas Iera stated that he responded to a report of a domestic dispute at 2613 Newark St. at 11:15 p.m. Monday.

Iera reportedly found Japalucci and his father, Gregory Charles Japalucci, in a physical confrontation at the home. During that struggle, Steve Japalucci stabbed Gregory Japalucci in the back with a knife, Iera wrote in the complaint.

Gregory Japalucci's condition could not be determined Wednesday.

Greensburg attorney Tim McCormick said yesterday he planned to meet with Japalucci later in the day but could not confirm he would be representing him.

Japalucci remained jailed in lieu of $25,000 bond, prison officials said.

He faces a preliminary hearing April 24 before DeMarchis.
