A Saltsburg man was killed early this morning in a one-vehicle accident in Loyalhanna, Westmoreland County.

Stacey A. Wildfire, 51, of Wildfire Road, was traveling south on Route 981 near Harvat Road around 4:30 a.m., when his 1995 GMC Sierra Pickup Truck left the roadway, state police at Kiski Valley and the Westmoreland County Coroner's Office reported.

Wildfire managed to get his vehicle back onto the road, but it then veered across both travel lanes and off the other side of the road. The truck slid under the guide rail and then struck a tree, police said.

Wildfire was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner John Ackerman. He died of blunt force trauma to the head and chest.

Police said they are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the crash. Wildfire was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.
