No faith in Ridge
Tom Ridge is quite ill-informed if he believes the GOP would accept a pro-choice running mate for John McCain ("GOP would accept abortion-rights VP: Ridge," Aug. 18 and PghTrib.com).
There are many of us who intend to hold our noses and vote for McCain solely based on his pro-life stance, and if he abandons this issue, he might as well start preparing his concession speech.
Elections are won and lost by just a couple of percentage points and I guarantee there are at least 4 or 5 percent in the GOP who care enough about the abortion issue to withhold their votes if necessary; Tom Ridge and John McCain should not underestimate the importance of this issue.
It is an issue of faith, and all of us will one day stand before God to give an account for our decisions. We answer to the author of life, not the GOP.
Think long and hard, Sen. McCain; in the meantime, we'll be holding our noses.
