Atwood honored with caring award
Esther Wood, manager of the West Penn Burn Center at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital, received a 2008 Cameos of Caring award, given to nurses who demonstrate excellence in nursing care, serve as advocates for patients and families, and embody the essence of the nursing profession.
Before going to West Penn, Atwood was coordinator of education services/nurse recruiting at ACMH Hospital.
She received her diploma from St. Francis School of Nursing in New Castle and bachelor and master of science in nursing degrees from Waynesburg College. She has served as a part-time faculty member at the Penn State-New Kensington RN-to-BSN program and is board-certified as a nurse executive by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Atwood resides in Kittanning with her husband, William Atwod Jr. They have two sons, Zachary and Aaron.
