Steel City wins one gold, one silver
Steel City Rowing Club, based in Verona, won one gold and one silver medal and placed highly in several other events at the 2002 Thomas Eakins Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia's Fairmont Park last weekend.
The team of Emma Shoucair, Cara Dermody, Meghan Gaab and Eileen Froehlke finished first in the Women's Junior 4x event with a time of 16 minutes and 21.45 seconds.
They were 10 seconds behind the winner, which was from the Philadelphia area.
The team of Gordon Lubimir, Zeb Browne, Dane Wetschler, Sammy Cunningham and Eileen Froehlke were runners-up in the Men's junior 4+ event with a time of 15:36.04.
Emily Schofield won the bronze medal in the Women's Junior 1x events with a time of 18:45.64.
Mieke Pitts was fifth in the same event.
Dori Martin finished fourth in the Women's Masters 1x.
Dave Kuchera placed eighth in the Men's Junior 1x.
Maddi Hadburg and Meredeth Meehan were 10th in the Women's Junior 2x.
