Airport festival marks Indiana anniversary

An annual Indiana County airport festival will have a theme from the past this year as part of the county's 200th birthday celebration.

The Jimmy Stewart Airport Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday. On display will be an Air Force C-47 from the Yankee Air Museum, the corporate jet for Reschini Insurance Agency Inc., and a Cessna aircraft used by the state Bureau of Aviation to track wildlife.

Airplane rides will be available to youths ages 8-17 for free. Adults may take a plane ride for a fee.

Other features of the festival include a demonstration by a drug task force dog at 10 a.m. Saturday, radio-controlled airplane demonstrations at 1 and 2 p.m., a pancake breakfast hosted by the Civil Air Patrol from 8-11 a.m. on both days, food vendors, and hay rides.
