BEST RUN: Penn State TB Austin Scott's slashing, 10-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Scott bounced off a linebacker, eluded two other defenders and dragged CB Jazzmen Williams into the end zone.

BEST PASS: Boston College QB Quinton Porter stayed calm despite an all-out blitz and spotted WR Tony Gonzalez open over the middle. The play went for 37 yards and a touchdown.

BEST CATCH: TE Casey Williams made a scrambling, lunging grab of a low throw from Zack Mills in the second quarter. The 5-yard catch on fourth down kept the drive going and led to a touchdown. BEST HUSTLE: Calvin Lowry did a great job returning punts for Penn State, with three for 55 yards. In the fourth quarter, he ran one back 28 yards to the BC 37. Lowry also had one kickoff return for 21 yards.

TURNING POINT: DT Tom Martin picked off a Mills' pass at the line of scrimmage and ran 25 yards to the 1-yard line. Horace Dodd scored on the next play to put BC up 21-0.

THE CLINCHER: BC marched 68 yards midway through the third quarter and capped the drive with Sandro Sciortino's 30-yard field goal.

BEST HIT: Boston College CB Will Blackmon jarred the ball loose from WR Tony Johnson, preventing what would have been a big gain.

GRABBING AT AIR: CB Alan Zemaitis was burned on BC's first touchdown. He allowed WR Grant Adams to get inside position and had no chance as Adams pulled in a 37-yard pass on a skinny post pattern.

SMART MOVE: Boston College started with a couple of runs and play-action passes, then went right at Penn State's secondary. It paid off with quick scores on BC's first two possessions of the game.

D'OH: In the final minute of the third quarter, Scott was hit from behind and fumbled at the 3-yard line, and BC recovered.

NOTABLE STAT: Even though BC was trying to sit on its lead most of the game, Penn State wound up with a slight edge in time of possession (31:28 to 28:32).

QUOTABLE: "It may be nerves, it may be jitters. I don't know what it is. It happened last week. This time a team took advantage of it and put us in a huge hole." -- Mills, on Penn State's offensive woes.

UP NEXT: Nebraska (2-0) plays host to Penn State (1-1) at 8 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Neb. Yesterday, Nebraska beat Utah State, 31-7.
