It's how you play the game: Beaver County's Amber is last 'Survivor' standing

Beaver County's Amber Brkich got the million dollars and her man.

Brkich was the sole survivor on last night's finale of "Survivor: All Stars," beating out her beloved "Boston Rob" Mariano for the $1 million prize.

Mariano didn't walk away empty-handed. Before the votes were tallied, he proposed to Brkich, 25, of Brighton, live on television and in front of her parents, Cheryl and Valentine Brkich.

She accepted.

Brkich, who finished sixth in her first "Survivor" outing in Australia in 2001, said she was satisfied with how she played the game.

"I didn't come out to make friends, I didn't come out to ... gosh, have a relationship with a guy. I came out to win a million dollars."

Brkich won the finale's first immunity challenge by successfully navigating a maze to find the rungs of a ladder.

Mariano won the second immunity challenge and voted to take Brkich to the final round over other tribe member Jenna Lewis.

Lewis had argued that taking her to the final two would have given Mariano a better chance of winning.

"He's giving his girlfriend a million dollars. That's a pretty good boyfriend," Lewis said.

Brkich is a 2000 graduate of Westminster College with a bachelor's degree in public relations and works at a health club.
