Jazz trio to play museum

The Westmoreland Jazz Society presents the Scott Anderson Trio, featuring special guests Lisa Bleil and Eric DeFade, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art.

Scott Anderson, one of Pittsburgh's most sought-after keyboard players, has performed with Joe Negri, Pete Hewlett, Maureen Budway, Lynda Jamison, Billy Price, Kenny Blake, and Benny Benack. He has played with national jazz artists including Claudio Roditi, Jerry Niewood and Marvin Stamm, as well as with The Temptations, Little Anthony, Bo Diddley and many others. Locally, Scott has played with The Balcony Big Band, Modern Times and Jazz for Juniors as well.

Anderson, who was nominated for an Emmy award for his work as music director of WQED's "Live From Studio A" television show, is also in demand as a producer and music director. Scott is a graduate of the Duquesne University School of Music.

Lisa Bleil has been singing professionally for more than 20 years and can be seen on WQED TV's "Live From Studio A" as a member of the WQED House Band. Bleil attended Carnegie Mellon University School of Music, where she majored in classical vocal performance and was a featured soloist in the "Carnegie Salutes Carnegie" celebration at the Civic Arena.

Saxophonist Eric DeFade, a performing artist and studio musician for more than 20 years, has performed with the Billy Price Band, Salsamba, Sandy Staley, HB Bennett and many others. He was featured soloist for the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater production, "Indigo In Motion." DeFade received a scholarship to study jazz performance at North Texas State University. He resides in Pittsburgh and is an artist/lecturer at Carnegie Mellon University.
