Heinz Field will play host to its first pro boxing show on Aug. 7, when Iron City Pro Boxing presents a seven-bout outdoor card featuring a championship fight.
In the main event, Rayco "War" Saunders (11-3-1), of Beltzhoover, will meet Jesse Ottman (10-1) for the North American Boxing Council and Pennsylvania state cruiserweight titles.
The card also includes lightweight Sugar Ray Narr, a former Olympian from Ghana; cruiserweight Chris Stallworth; super middleweight Mike Strauss; junior welterweight Jose Carballa and featherweight Mario Acosta, a 2004 state Golden Gloves champion.
Heinz Field played host to the Golden Gloves state championships inside the Coca-Cola Great Hall in April. The Iron City show will be held outdoors, with a ring set up in the courtyard underneath the Jumbotron.
"This is called summer heat for the Steel Heat," said Jimmy Cvetic, Iron City Pro Boxing director. "We're taking it to a higher level."
Tickets are $50 for golden ringside, $30 for reserved seats and $20 for general admission, and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations or by calling (412) 298-7373.
