Noteworthy: Huttner received a $10,000 scholarship from the Davidson Institute for Talent Development for his research on the biological reasons for why people gravitate toward religion. Inspired by a book on the subject, Huttner's research indicated that people experience heightened brain activity during meditation, prayer and other religious practices. He concluded that prayer or meditation could be beneficial in psychology and psychotherapy. He was one of 16 scholarship winners nationwide.
Quote: "I've always been interested in world religion and different cultures. I'm also interested in science, so when I saw this book that combined religion and science, I thought, 'How's that possible?' That's the big split nowadays, between religion and science."
