Moon offensive lineman John Bachman is switching his college commitment from a football program without a head coach to one with some coaching uncertainties of its own.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound senior has decided to play football at Pitt after a shake-up at Indiana University.

Bachman had originally committed to Indiana in October, but changed his mind after Hoosier head coach Gerry DiNardo and his entire staff were fired this month. Pitt had recruited Bachman earlier this year.

"You don't go to a college entirely based on who's the coach, but in terms of Indiana and DeNardo, it was a big factor," Bachman said. "With him leaving, I wasn't sure if the program was going to keep headed in the right direction."

Bachman said he is committed to Pitt, regardless of coach Walt Harris's future at the school.

"I don't think Walt Harris is going to be there," Bachman said. "But whether he's there or not, I am committed more to a football program and I am going to Pitt no matter what happens. In other recruiting news, Franklin Regional tight end/linebacker Scott Uziel has committed to Akron. The 6-foot-4, 258-pounder is the second WPIAL player to commit to Akron in the past week, joining Chartiers-Houston offensive lineman Elliott Bates (6-2, 275).

Uziel, a first-team all-Greater Allegheny Conference tight end, also had offers from Central Michigan and Ohio
