Women's roundup: WVU cruises past Lady Orange

Yolanda Paige led the way once again for the West Virginia Mountaineers (12-6, 3-4), as they beat Syracuse (10-8, 2-5), 81-50, in a Big East matchup. The leader in the nation in assists at 9.7 a game upped her average, as she recorded 13 assists to go along with her15 points. Sherell Sowho led the team in scoring with 20 points including three three-point shots.

Pitt-Johnstown 73, California, Pa. 70 -- Pitt-Johnstown (13-4) defeated the No. 6 ranked California, Pa. Vulcans (15-3).

Clarion 87, Slippery Rock 51 -- Heather Cigich was one of six Clarion (15-3, 3-0) players in double figures, as they beat Slippery Rock (7-12, 1-3).

Indiana, Pa. 55, Edinboro 45 -- Molly Miller recorded a double-double for Indiana, Pa. (8-10, 1-3), as they upset Edinboro (14-4, 1-2) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup.

Shippensburg 52, Lock Haven 42 -- Jennifer Scaffidi had 16 points, and Shanna Oaddams had 10 points and 15 rebounds in the Shippensburg (11-6, 2-1) win over Lock Haven (2-16, 1-3).

Grove City 73, Thiel 50 -- Brittany Anderson notched her first career double-double in the Grove City (9-8, 2-2) win against Thiel (5-14, 1-3).

Washington & Jefferson 65, Westminster, Pa. 55 -- Division III's third-leading scorer led the way once again for Washington & Jefferson (15-3, 4-0), as Leigh Sulkowski scored a team-high 24 points in the win against Westminster, Pa. (12-5, 3-1).

Bethany, WVa. 78, Waynesburg 73 -- Jenny Place scored a game-high 24 points, as Bethany, WVa. (7-11, 2-2) beat Waynesburg (8-8, 0-4).

Allegheny 73, Wooster 59 -- Meghan Vasilisin came off the bench to score 18 points and grab 11 rebounds in the Allegheny (12-5, 5-4) win over Wooster (8-9, 4-5).

No. 6 Notre Dame 72, St. John's 65 -- In South Bend, Ind., Crystal Erwin had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Megan Duffy added 14 points and 10 assists, leading Notre Dame over St. John's.

Jacqueline Batteast added 10 points and 10 rebounds, giving the Irish (17-3, 5-2 Big East) three players with double-doubles for the first time since they accomplished the feat against Michigan State in 1995.

No. 7 Baylor 74, Texas A&M 52 -- In Waco, Texas, Sophia Young scored 20 points, and Steffanie Blackmon added 15 to lead the Lady Bears past the Aggies.

No. 8 Rutgers 71, No. 14 Boston College 60 -- In Boston, Cappie Pondexter scored 22 of her season-high 27 points in the second half to lift Rutgers to its fourth victory against a ranked team this season.

No. 11 Michigan State 71, Purdue 58 -- In East Lansing, Mich., Kelli Roehrig nearly outscored Purdue's starters in the first half and finished with 20 points for Michigan State.

No. 13 Texas Tech 75, Missouri 45 -- In Lubbock, Texas, Cisti Greenwalt scored 20 points and had 14 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season for Texas Tech.

No. 15 Texas 83, Oklahoma 71, OT -- In Norman, Okla., Tiffany Jackson had 30 points and 16 rebounds, Nina Norman scored 22, and Texas rallied from a 14-point second-half deficit to win in overtime.
