Shocked man sues Allegheny Power
An East Huntingdon Township couple has sued Allegheny Power, contending it did not warn them that cutting tree limbs around electrical cables could be hazardous.
Glenn R. Backus was shocked and injured while cutting a tree on Aug. 16, 2004.
Backus and his family are seeking an unspecified amount in excess of $30,000 from Allegheny Power because the company allegedly said it was his responsibility to cut the tree down when he called the utility in July 2004, according to the suit.
Backus' attorney, John Scales, of Greensburg, wrote that Allegheny Power's representative failed to warn Backus that the transmission wires were uninsulated and posed a risk.
