Four hurt in Fayette collision

Four people were injured late Saturday in a two-vehicle accident in Fayette County.

According to state police at Uniontown, the crash occurred when a 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera operated by Dennis McFadden, of Merrittstown, was traveling south on Route 166, just north of Heisterburg Road.

Police said McFadden's vehicle crossed the road and struck a 1988 Ford truck operated by Michael Shuff, of Republic.

McFadden and his front-seat passenger, Joan Burrell, 44, of Merrittstown, were transported to Brownsville Hospital and then flown to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh's Oakland section for treatment of head injuries.

The rear passenger in McFadden's vehicle, a 12-year-old, was flown to Children's Hospital in Oakland with a head injury. All three were listed in fair condition Sunday.

Shuff was taken by ambulance to Uniontown Hospital with a head injury. There was no report on his condition.

State police were assisted at the scene by Fayette and Brownsville EMS units and Republic and Allison volunteer fire departments.

An investigation is continuing.
