Day tour checks out stunning gardens
"The Well Furnished Garden" includes 18 gardens in the Squirrel Hill, Moon, Fox Chapel areas. Plants, planted baskets, one-of-a-kind cement birdbaths and other items will be for sale. The Botanic Garden of Western Pennsylvania sponsors the event.
Self-guided ticket prices are $30 for members of the Botanic Garden and $40 for nonmembers.
A bus tour also is available; tickets are $75 and include a sit-down lunch and private tour guide.

Hosta show set for next weekend
Hosta fans shouldn't miss the Western Pennsylvania Hosta Show set for next Saturday in Mt. Lebanon.
People can chose from more than 50 varieties of these popular border plants at the show, which takes place at the Galleria on Washington Road.
Gardeners also can enter specimens from 8 to 10 a.m. Entries may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m.
The Daffodil and Hosta Society of Western Pennsylvania sponsors the show.

Sleep store opens today
A new upscale sleep store opened in Monroeville, featuring premium European- and American-made mattresses.
Somnus features brands such as Simmons, Beautyrest, Exceptionale, Windsor Bedding Company's Slumberland, and Tempur-Pedic. Somnus is also the exclusive carrier of Simmons BackCare Kids, which includes moisture protection and fibers designed to reduce allergens.
The store also features custom-made bed designs by iron artist John Walter of Iron Eden.
