Roof surfing lands man, friends in trouble
Trooper Jolando Hinton called for help at 1:25 p.m. when he spotted the daredevil. One of the car's three occupants was videotaping his antics, police said.
Other state troopers eventually stopped the Ford Focus near Robinson Town Centre. The man on the roof, Brian Lee Crawford, 20, of Irwin, Westmoreland County, told police he was creating a portfolio because he wanted to become a stunt man, state Trooper Robin Mungo said.
"It was a stupid act and very dangerous," Mungo said.
Crawford was cited for reckless endangerment. The cameraman, Thomas R. Glunt Jr., 19, of Pittsburgh, was charged with conspiracy, and driver Gabriel Todd Hall, 21, of Prospect, was charged with reckless endangerment.
A fourth passenger, Devon Chapman, 19, of Pittsburgh, was cited for disorderly conduct.
Chapman, Glunt and Crawford attend the Pittsburgh Art Institute, Downtown. Hall told police he is a culinary student. Glunt was using school-owned video equipment to film the event.
The four men were released and will receive summonses in the mail.
