Pre-quilted panel becomes a baby blanket
For the blanket, purchase a pre-printed baby-quilt panel that is 45 inches by 36 inches. The quilting threads on the panel will need to be removed 1 inch from the raw edges. Two sides of the panel should have a row of thread that can be completely removed. The other two sides will have threads that will need to be pulled to the inside and tied to prevent raveling.
Cut a piece of 1-inch eyelet trim about 5 yards long and pin the wrong side of the trim onto the right side of the back panel of the blanket 1/2 inch from the edge. Gather and ease the trim around the corners so it will lay flat when the trim is turned to the front of the blanket.
Start sewing 3 inches from the end of the trim and stop sewing about 3 inches before the starting point of the trim. Trim and sew the eyelet trim together, then continue to sew the trim to the blanket. Turn the seam allowance to the inside of the blanket. Fold the seam allowance on the front of the blanket 1/8 inch past the stitching line, and top-stitch the front of the blanket to the eyelet trim. Sew on top of the stitches on the binding that holds the eyelet trim in place.
For the pillow, cut one piece of fabric 9 1/2 inches by 15 inches. Seam allowance is 1/2 inch on the pillow and the pillowcase. Place the right sides together and sew around the pillow, leaving an opening for turning. Turn to the right side and stuff lightly with Fiberfil. Sew the opening closed. Finished pillow is 9 inches by 14 inches.
For the pillowcase, cut one piece of white fabric 8 1/2 inches by 15 inches. Place the right sides together to form an 8 1/2-inch by 7 1/2-inch panel. Sew around the side and one end of the panel.
Cut one piece of white fabric 6 1/2 inches by 15 inches. Place the right sides together to form a 6 1/2-inch by 7 1/2-inch panel. Sew the side seam closed and turn to the right side, forming a 3 1/4-inch by 7 1/2-inch panel.
Cut one piece of 1/2-inch white eyelet trim 15 inches long.
Place the right sides of the trim together, sew the ends together and finish the edges with a serger or zigzag stitch. Pin the eyelet with the right side facing out to the edge of the larger panel. Place the smaller panel with the right sides together over the top panel of the pillowcase, and pin in place over the eyelet trim. Sew the panels together and turn the lower panel to the right side.
One pastel-colored washcloth is needed for Boo Boo Bunny. Trim the tag off and, starting at one corner of the washcloth, roll to the opposite corner. The space in the center will face up. Fold the pointed ends back onto the top of the bunny and wrap a rubber band around the center of the folded roll. The bottom of the ears will be at the center of the roll.
Take a 15-inch ribbon and place over the rubber band and form a bow. One-half of the cloth is the body of the bunny, one-quarter is the ears and one-quarter is the head.
Sew a 1-inch pompom onto the end of the body for the tail of the bunny. Sew two eyes, a small pompom for the nose and yarn or stamens from a silk flower for three whiskers to the front of the head to complete the face.
Boo Boo Bunny is not intended for use as a toy. Attach a slip of paper to the ribbon that reads: "I'm a Boo Boo Bunny. When you get a Boo Boo, put an ice cube in my belly, and the hurt will go away."
