The Montour Trail Council is preparing for the sixth annual IKEA/Montour Trail half-marathon, 5K run and walk on Saturday.
The half-marathon is to start at 8 a.m. from the IKEA parking lot at Robinson Town Centre, followed by 5K runners at 8:15. Walkers in the 5K board buses at 7:45 a.m. to travel from IKEA to their starting point along the Montour Trail.
Jesse Forquer, race director and a Montour Trail Council board member, said nearly 600 registrations have been received. This puts the event on pace with last year's, when total registration by race day exceeded 1,000.
Runners and walkers can register at IKEA from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday or Friday or between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. on race day.
The race benefits the maintenance and expansion of the Montour Trail. Awards to the top finishers will be given at IKEA following each race.
