New Kensington-Arnold principal charged
Kim Sean Crummie, 52, of the Manchester section of Pittsburgh's North Side, is accused of exposing himself and asking an undercover officer to perform sex acts on him.
Crummie is principal of Valley Middle School in Arnold.
Police say the incident occurred in a restroom at Harrison Hills Park, Harrison, last Friday morning.
Crummie didn't answer messages left at his published telephone number or an Oakmont listing.
New Kensington-Arnold Superintendent George Batterson declined to discuss the situation, saying "it's a personnel matter. Until it is ultimately resolved, I can't make a comment."
Crummie is charged with indecent exposure and open lewdness.
According a criminal affidavit, police claim Crummie exposed himself "in a sexual manner" in front of an undercover police officer and then requested that the stranger "perform multiple sex acts on him."
Crummie was arrested just after 11 a.m. last Friday.
School district administrators couldn't say if Crummie was working that day or on a break.
Allegheny County Police Superintendent Charles Moffatt said Wednesday that Crummie told the undercover officer he was a "principal at Seneca Valley," a school district in Butler County.
Crummie was employed at Seneca Valley several years ago but left for the Sto-Rox School District. He was an administrator at Sto-Rox when he was hired by New Kensington-Arnold in 2005. Crummie is paid about $84,000 as Valley Middle School principal.
Crummie was one of three superintendent finalists last summer for the job that was awarded to Batterson. Crummie has been leading the school board's initiative to upgrade the district's technology.
School officials would not say whether the charges will affect Crummie's employment with the district.
School Board President Beverly Meyer and board member Eric Doutt declined to comment. Other board members reached Wednesday, Robert Sauro and Pat Petit, said they were unaware of the charges.
Crummie was mailed a summons for the charges and therefore was not arraigned, police said. A preliminary hearing has not been scheduled.
