PennDOT work plan
released for week
PennDOT District 12 announced this tentative work plan for the week, beginning today. All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting basis. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring use of headlights.
= Bridge crew will widen bridges on Route 4040 (Navaho Hollow Road) and clean bridges in the Connellsville area.
= Patching is scheduled on Route 4010 (Upper Middletown Road) and Route 819 (Vanderbilt area), and Route 1009 (White area).
= Spray patching is scheduled on Route 201 from Route 51 to Fayette City.
= Surface treatment crew will be applying a seal coat to the road surface in Washington Township.
= Crack sealing is scheduled on Route 40 (Markleysburg area).
= Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various Routes throughout Fayette County.
PennDOT has a 24-hour toll free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern or to report locations of dead deer on state highways. The number is 800-FIX-ROAD (800-349-7623).

Grants totaling
$500,000 approved
The Department of Agriculture Rural Development has approved grants totaling $500,000 for two projects in Fayette County.
Fay-Penn Economic Development Council was awarded $300,000 to provide loans to local businesses as part of an ongoing, aggressive effort to revitalize downtown businesses throughout the county.
Fayette County Community Action Agency, Inc. was awarded $200,000 to continue renovations of the Republic Business Incubator. The ongoing project will renovate an existing 70,000 square foot building into an affordable space for attracting new and emerging businesses to the area.
