Beaver County man to learn fate next month in friend's death
Sentencing is scheduled Aug. 7 for a man convicted of involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment and drunken driving for the death of his friend who was killed when a pickup was struck by a train in Beaver County.
Jayson Hatton, 39, of Center had a blood alcohol level about twice the state's legal limit when he drove around the closed crossing gates, prosecutors said. Police say Jesse Kownacki, 29, of Baden was thrown from the pickup and killed when it was hit by the freight train.
The crash occurred on April 3, 2008, in Monaca.
