Two men from Murrysville and Trafford were jailed Monday on charges of assaulting a Trafford man who they allege sold them an unknown vegetable matter instead of marijuana last month.
Joshua M. Moreno, 22, of 5550 Old William Penn Highway, Murrysville, and Mitchell D. Harrison, 18, of 218 Edgewood Ave., Trafford, are charged by Trafford police with robbery, simple assault and disorderly conduct in connection with an altercation.
Police allege that at 7 p.m. Oct. 23, Moreno and Harrison gave money to Adam J. Lombar, no address available, along First Street at Brinton Avenue to purchase marijuana. Police said that when Moreno and Harrison demanded their money back after determining the "vegetable matter" contained in the plastic bag was not marijuana, Lombar refused to comply.
Police allege that Moreno and Harrison then began to beat Lombar and took an undetermined amount of money from his pants pocket.
The men were jailed in lieu of $1,000 bond each. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled before Harrison District Judge Helen Kistler.
