Personality Test: Singer Marcy Brown
It's an understatement to say that Marcy Brown will sing anything. The New Castle resident has been in rock groups and wedding bands. For 15 years, she explored jazz and big band music as a vocalist with Jack Purcell Orchestra.
But her current venture, the Sweaty Betty Blues Band, seems to suit her best. The band, which features her husband, Bill, on drums, with guitarist Max Schang, keyboardist John DeCola and bass player Jim Spears, has become one of the more recognizable blues outfits in the region.
A Maryland native who played lacrosse at the University of Maryland, Brown also has dabbled in radio (she was a DJ in Ocean City, Md.) and credits her husband with making her musical dreams come true.
