Beaver Falls senior B.J. McBryde has made a verbal commitment to Connecticut, becoming the second WPIAL football recruit for the Big East school. The 6-foot-5, 235-pound lineman had been deciding between scholarship offers from UConn and Boston College, said Beaver Falls coach Ryan Matsook.
"He has all of the intangibles that they're looking for," Matsook said of McBryde, who also plays basketball for the Tigers.
This was also a busy weekend for Beaver Falls seniors. Lineman Chris Elkins verbally committed to Youngstown State, a Division I-AA (FCS) program. Running back Cody Cook, a member of the Tribune-Review's Terrific 25, committed to California (Pa.) Admire Carter, a standout receiver/defensive back, committed to Slippery Rock, where he'll play both football and baseball.
McKeesport senior Ty-Meer Brown was the other WPIAL player to commit to UConn.
