Detroit center Jiri Hudler scored the game-winning goal at 2:26, squeezing a backhand between goalie Marc-Andre Fleury and the left post after a turnover by Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik. Detroit's Brad Stuart intercepted Orpik's clearing attempt at the right point, deflected it off Darren Helm's stick and toward Hudler, who scored his fifth playoff goal for a 2-1 lead.

HIGHLIGHT: With Detroit left wing Kirk Maltby already in the penalty box for hooking, the Penguins picked up a 5-on-3 power-play opportunity when Red Wings defenseman Andreas Lilja drew an interference penalty for dumping Sidney Crosby at 10:10.

LOWLIGHT: Despite the two-man advantage and several scoring chances, the Penguins failed to produce a goal. An Evgeni Malkin slap shot sailed wide right, Crosby was shoved out of the crease by Henrik Zetterberg, and a Marian Hossa shot was blocked. The closest the Penguins came to scoring was when Malkin hit the post with a slap shot from the right point that made the red light flicker.
