Pitt women remain unbeaten, set school record
Jania Sims recorded game-highs in both points (16) and assists (5) for Pitt (7-0). Xenia Stewart had 15 points and seven rebounds. The Lady Panthers were without preseason All-Big East Conference center Marcedes Walker.
Niki McCoy had team highs with 14 points and four rebounds for Akron (1-5). Riana Miller also chipped in 13 points off the bench.
Wheeling Jesuit 81, Indiana, Pa. 72
Katie Repicky had 19 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists to lead Wheeling Jesuit (1-3) over Indiana, Pa. (2-3) in a non-conference game. Lindsay Coyne added 18 points. Siarra Cornelius managed 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds in defeat.
Washington & Jefferson 71, John Carroll 63
Maggie Gibson, a Greensburg Central Catholic graduate, had 19 points and 16 rebounds for Washington & Jefferson (4-2) in a non-conference win over John Carroll (1-3). Mt. Lebanon graduate Kennan Killeen added 21 points and four assists. Jessica Gibbons and Tracey Prosinski each had 16 points for John Carroll.
Geneva 50, Grove City 39
Allyson Clarke had game-highs in points (12) and rebounds (12) for Geneva (4-1) in a non-conference victory over Grove City (0-4). Elyse Bogusz led Grove City with 11 points and Rachel McCoy finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Penn State-Behrend 81, Mount Aloysius 41
Brittany Mays scored 18 points and teammate Jenn Emberg (Kittanning) had 16 as Penn State-Behrend (3-1, 1-0) cruised past Mt. Aloysius (2-2, 0-1) in the AMCC opener for both teams. Shana Swan had seven points to lead nine Mt. Aloysius scorers.
Westminster, Pa. 55, Mt. Union 43
Hempfield graduate Emilee Ackerman scored a game-high 13 points, as Westminster, Pa. (3-2) downed Mt. Union (3-2) in a non-conference contest. Desiree Sterling chipped in 11 for the Titans. Haley Drayer had 12 points for Mt. Union in the loss.
Medaille 76, Pitt-Bradford 52
Amanda Baker led all scorers with 18 points for Medaille (4-1, 1-0) in an AMCC victory over Pitt-Bradford (0-4, 0-1). The Medaille defense forced 25 Pitt-Bradford turnovers. Tai Brown scored 17 points in a losing cause.

Bucknell 60, St. Francis, Pa. 56
Donald Brown had 14 points and eight rebounds for Bucknell (2-4) in a non-conference victory over St. Francis, Pa. (2-3). Jason Vegotsky also chipped in 11 points in a reserve role. Bassirou Dieng led all Red Flash players with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Bethany, W.Va. 109, Ohio Eastern 80
Marc Palermo scored 16 points, as Bethany, W.Va. (3-2) cruised past Ohio Eastern in the Wendy's Classic at West Liberty State. Ryan Besancon added 13 points and seven rebounds in the victory. Ryan Holmes led all scorers with 18 points in a losing effort.
Edinboro 70, Penn State-New Kensington 26
Montour graduate Daren Tielsch scored all 18 of his points in the first half, as NCAA Division II Edinboro (3-1) breezed to a non-conference win over independent Penn State-New Kensington (0-5). Chris Bess, the only other Edinboro player in double figures, had 10 points.
Grove City 74, Geneva 64
Ryan Gibson scored 20 points on 8 of 11 shooting to pace Grove City (2-2) over host Geneva (5-3) in non-conference action. Craig Hallman added 16 points for the Wolverines. Kyle McDermott managed 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a losing cause.
Messiah 81, Juniata 61
Jared Yoder scored 18 of his 27 points in the second half, as Messiah (3-1, 1-0) defeated Juniata (3-1, 0-1) in the Commonwealth Conference opener. Darryl Brown chipped in 16 points in the victory. Brian Cannon led all Juniata scorers with 17 points.
Muskingum 76, Thiel 43
Central Catholic graduate Ross Watson had 13 points and eight rebounds, but Thiel (1-3) lost handily to Muskingum (4-0) in a non-conference game.
