West Allegheny pitcher Zak Sinclair was named Gatorade's Pennsylvania Baseball Player of the Year. Sinclair, a right-handed North Carolina State recruit, led West Allegheny to its second consecutive WPIAL Class AAA championship and has an 8-1 record, 0.81 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 531/3 innings.

Gene Zulisky of Greensburg won a world title in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gi Division at the Kumite Classic at the Monroeville ExpoMart. Zulisky, who was fighting in the over 40 super heavyweight classification Saturday, had most recently fought competitively in martial arts in 2001.
